USC safety T.J. McDonald was selected in the third of the NFL draft with the 71st pick by the St. Louis Rams
senior safety T.J. McDonald
was selected in the third round with the 71st overall pick by the St. Louis Rams
The Rams are coached by Jeff Fisher, a former USC defensive back.
McDonald, appearing in all 13 games his senior season, led the Trojans with 112 tackles and grabbed two interceptions.
It's all in the bloodlines for the 6-foot-2 205-pound safety, whose father Tim McDonald was an All-Pro safety in the NFL from the late 80s to the mid 90s.
McDonald was the second Trojan taken in the 2013 draft. Receiver Robert Woods was chosen in the second round as the 41st overall pick by the Buffalo Bills.
