USC a childhood favorite for Dorton

2014 Bellflower (Calif.) Bosco defensive end Malik Dorton gave FOX Sports NEXT the latest update on his recruitment, including a list of three standouts. Plus, he talks childhood memories of the Trojans.

2014 Bellflower (Calif.) Bosco defensive end Malik Dorton has 18 offers and recently picked up a big one from USC.

"It was a blessing," Dorton said after Bosco's coaches barbecue. "It's a good deal for me and my family."

Growing up five minutes from the Coliseum, the Trojans have always been a favorite for Dorton and his family.

"Just Pete Carroll, during the Reggie Bush era -- USC was rocking back when I was little so that's how it happened."

Rounding out Dorton's top three is UCLA and Washington.

The now 6-foot-3 235-pound lineman says he'd like to play in a defense that provides flexibility and freedom for him to run.

No timeline is set for Dorton's commitment.
