Dawkins told FOX Sports NEXT Saturday at Dana Hills AirStrike that he'd be camping at USC the next day and planned to throw with quarterbacks coach Clay Helton.
The 6-foot-4 215-pound Dawkins said that's exactly how the day at Troy panned out.
"I worked with Coach Helton all day," the three-star quarterback said after camp. "He was loving how I was throwing and he was impressed with my footwork."
Dawkins said that it was one of the better all around workouts he's had in awhile and he was happy it came in front of head coach Lane Kiffin and the Trojans' staff.
"The thing [Helton] said he loves the most is my ability to stretch the play," Dawkins explained. "He loves that I have the ability to run and make people miss and be a threat when I'm on the run.
"Helton said I'm a favorite name in the classroom and all the coaches are impressed. Helton says he likes my poise and how I work hard and still manage to have a smile on my face."
Dawkins did not walk away from camp with an offer, but says he was told by Helton he is on the top of the Trojans' board and they'd "hate to have to play against me."
Dawkins says the Trojans plan is to wait until after their Rising Stars camp, which is June 25-26, to make a decision on whether or not they'll offer him.
