McGraw ready to narrow his list

2014 River Ridge (La.) Curtis safety Mattrell McGraw is ready to trim his list. USC has offered the three-star recruit, is it possible for the Trojans to make the cut?

2014 River Ridge (La.) Curtis safety Mattrell McGraw told FOX Sports NEXT at B2G in Los Angeles that he's ready to name three favorites from his list of offers, but isn't naming them yet. He'll do that - at The Opening.

Could USC, who McGraw holds an offer from, make the cut?

McGraw, who says he loves the West Coast, calls USC a "dream school" because of Joe McKnight, a former Trojan who also graduated from McGraw's high school.

But it doesn't quite sound like USC will make the cut.

McGraw is visiting Los Angeles for the second time, but says he has never visited the USC campus. He came to L.A. earlier this spring for the UCLA spring game and is back again for B2G's Elite Camp. He didn't make it to Rising Stars.

The 6-foot 175-pound three-star recruit says USC recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron is in charge of his recruitment. McGraw admitted he seldomly hears from Orgeron and he's never talked to the Trojans' defensive backs coach [Clancy Pendergast].

"Coach O offered me," McGraw explained, "but I mean – to be honest – I haven't really made it a point to reach out to them, so that's kind of one of the things that's hindering me and USC.

"If they showed more interest I would show more interest, too."

McGraw says he wouldn't mind coming to the West Coast for college. He is planning to take at least three official visits - to the schools he's announcing at The Opening - and is keeping those other two spots open for any school "Who wants to put the pressure on for me to visit," he said.
