Meet the Trojans' newest volleyball star

Meet Ebony Nwanebu, the Trojans' newest outside hitter, who comes to Troy with a laundry list of awards to her name.

Fresh off a gold-medal win at the USAV Junior Nationals, outside hitter Ebony Nwanebu has made her way to USC where she will join the women of Troy this season.

Originally from Texas, Nwanebu made the trip out to Los Angeles with the hopes of not only leading the Trojans to a winning season, but also to graduate from USC with a degree in education. Nwanebu aspires to become a teacher and a volleyball coach after college.

Nwanebu's mother, Joyce Newell, also played college volleyball for Iowa Centra Community College. When she's on the court, she says she is inspired by her role model, Olympic volleyball silver medalists Flo Hyman.

You can catch Nwanebu along with the rest of the Women of Troy when they kick their season off on September 18 against UC Irvine at the Galen Center.
