Metu has a standout

FOX Sports NEXT caught up with 2015 Lawndale (Calif.) center Chimezie Metu in Las Vegas (Nev.). Metu says it's a PAC-12 program standing out...

2015 Lawndale (Calif.) center Chimezie Metu holds seven offers, including California, USC, Connecticut, Fresno State, Washington, San Diego State and Long Beach. But the 6-foot-9 205-pound prospect says only one of those offers is standing out, "USC," Chimezie told FOX Sports NEXT in Las Vegas. "That's the one standing out because they are recruiting me the hardest."

Chimezie, who was unfamiliar with new USC head coach Andy Enfield prior to him taking the Trojan job, says he saw Florida Gulf Coast in the NCAA tournament and liked Enfield's uptempo style.

The soon-to-be junior also likes the relationship he's built with the Trojan staff. "They're really good coaches," he said. "I know them personally and my coaches from high school know them, so I'm just really comfortable around them.

"They told me I'm a top target in 2015 and really want me to go there."

Chimezie has yet to visit USC's campus but has seen the Trojans workout in the Galen Center, "It's really nice," he said.

The three-star prospect was in Vegas during the last evaluation period of July, playing on the same AAU team – Oakland Soldiers – as top USC 2014 target Stanley Johnson. Needless to say, USC coaches were present at each of the Soldiers' games.
