Day two of USC Fall Camp is in the book, and it was the defense that won the day, specifically with two amazing interceptions (one picked off by Su'a Cravens, the other by Torin Harris) and a sack on Max Browne.
After practice, SCPlaybook caught up with safety Josh Shaw, who elaborated on the defense's high energy.
"We were all juiced up," said Shaw. "Everyday, our thing is we want to win the day as a defense. Whenever you're creating turnovers on defense everyone is just excited and just can't wait to make another play."
Leading the safety charge was Shaw and Cravens, two names that have been thrown around as starters. However, despite the talk, Shaw said it doesn't affect his mentality.
"At the end of the day, we still have to come out here and perform...and do the best job we can," said Shaw.
New Defensive Coordinator--and secondary coach--Clancy Pendergast has been leading the Trojans on defensive since the spring, and according to Shaw, he has made a very positive impression.
"He's great," said Shaw. "He just really knows his stuff. And the players, we just love him."
