Notebook: Day twelve morning session of camp

Marqise Lee participated in his first practice since going down with a bruised shoulder on day seven.

Day eleven of USC Fall Camp was another short practice on Dedeaux Field, but a familiar face finally joined the Trojans for Tuesday morning's workout. Check out all the notes from USC's morning session.

-Marqise Lee finally participated in his first drills since going down with a bruised shoulder on day seven. Lee was limited on the field, running partial routes and blocking during run plays, and returning punts during special teams run throughs. Lee sported a no-contact yellow jersey, but no pads.

-After Tuesday's practice, head coach Lane Kiffin announced that 19 players were unable to practice due to injuries. Wednesday morning's practice also showed low numbers, as players including Silas Redd, D.J. Morgan, Darreus Rogers and Nelson Agholor watched drills from the sidelines.

-During running back drills, freshman Ty Isaac was limited, but participated for the first time in a few days. He worked out with Buck Allen and Tre Madden, as Redd and Justin Davis looked on from the sidelines.

-The offense had a bit of a slow morning during team runs, as the two quarterbacks left in contention for the starting spot each had a few mistakes. First to take the ball, Max Wittek fumbled the snap, causing the entire offense to run a lap. Then Cody Kessler stepped up and fumbled the exchange to John Akiba, causing Kessler to sommersault backward and then take a lap with the rest of the offense. A few series later, Kessler was picked by Anthony Brown, resulting in another lap.

-Continuing with the quarterbacks, there were a few highlights, two specifically from Wittek. First, the QB completed a deep ball to Victor Blackwell with coverage from Su'a Cravens. At the end of team activities, Wittek completed a long series with a touchdown pass to De'Von Flournoy.

-Steven Mitchell sported a large ice pack on his right knee -- part of his rehabilitation as the trainers tended to it and took the pack off after 20 minutes.

-Practice ended with special teams, and in a unique twistMax Tuerk, Chad Wheeler and Nathan Guertler -- usually ones for blocking -- took reps catching the football and rumbling away with it.

-And finally, on a more trivial note, the team managers joined the quarterbacks and quarterback coach Clay Helton during conditioning, while the special teams drilled.

There is still one more session of practice for day twelve of USC Fall Camp, so stay tuned for more notes on Lee's return and much more.
