Kennard credits Pendergast for performance

FOX Sports' SCPlaybook caught up with USC redshirt senior Devon Kennard following the Trojans 35-7 win over Boston College.

USC defeated Boston College 35-7 Saturday afternoon and for the third straight game, USC's defense held its opponent to under 250 yards of total offense.

Redshirt senior Devon Kennard credited new defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast after the game for the unit's success. "[He gave] us a great system to defend with," Kennard said. "I'm having a blast on defense and I want to continue to help my team win."

Kennard tallied three tackles in the win, one for a loss all while keeping the pressure on Eagles quarterback Chase Rettig.

The first-team defense didn't allow Boston College to score. A week ago, they held Washington State to only a field goal while scoring the Trojans' lone touchdown in the 10-7 loss.

"We're just focused on one game at a time," Kennard said. "It feels good to get a win.

The competition gets tougher for the Trojans next week when they host Utah State, a team who won 11 games last season. "We're going to celebrate this win and get back to work tomorrow," Kennard said, "because we have a great opponent in Utah State."
