Freshman Darreus Rogers was the only receiver available by the end of Tuesday. Victor Blackwell started the day on Howard Jones practice field, but left before 11on11 drills. He appeared to pull up with an injury during one-on-one work, limping off the field.
Marqise Lee is continuing to recover from a knee sprain suffered against Arizona State. He said after practice Tuesday that the injury "stiffened up" during halftime at Notre Dame, which led to the coaches deciding to pull him for the rest of the game.
Not only were the Trojans lacking in receivers, not one scholarship tight end was available.
Xavier Grimble, Randall Telfer, and Jalen Cope-Fitzpatrick all made appearances on the field, none in uniform. Cope-Fitzpatrick walked gingerly across the field with a very noticeable limp. Redshirt senior defensive end Kevin Greene took reps at tight end with walk-ons.
On the offensive line, redshirt freshman Jordan Simmons was lost Monday in what interim head coach Ed Orgeron called a "freak" type accident in one-on-one drills. Simmons will have knee surgery and is out for the season.
Also sidelined on the offensive line Tuesday was right guard Aundrey Walker, who was on the practice field in pants and a jersey but did not wear pads or participate.
The tailbacks participating in full drills Tuesday included Silas Redd and Buck Allen. Tre Madden is continuing to recover from a hamstring issue, though he participated in what appeared to be limited capacity. Ty Isaac did not participate. Justin Davis is out for the season with an ankle injury.
Walk-on tailback Taylor Ross went down during practice and required attention from trainers and eventually the medics. He was put on a board to be carted off the field with an apparent knee injury.
Moving to the defensive side of the ball, linebacker Lamar Dawson went down during practice with an injury. He sat out with the trainers the remainder of practice.
