USC kicker Andre Heidari will be fighting for his job this week at practice. Interim head coach Ed Orgeron announced an open competition between Heidari, and walk-ons Alex Wood and Craig McMahon.

Heidari is 6 of 11 on field goal attempts this season, missing two key field goals both in the 10-7 loss to Washington State and the 14-10 loss at Notre Dame.

"[Special teams coach] John [Baxter] and I did talk about it," Orgeron explained after Tuesday's practice. "He's going to do some competitive things all week and then he and I are going to talk on Friday and see who did the best."

Heidari had a promising freshman season in 2011, making 15 of 17 field goal attempts and all 50 of his PATs.

In 2012, as a sophomore, Heidari missed the Trojans second and third contests of the season against Syracuse and Stanford due to a knee injury. His kicking game hasn't been the same since. He finished the season successfully kicking 10 of 16 field goal attempts and 39 of 41 PATs.

In his absence last season, walk-on freshman Alex Wood. Wood did not attempt any field goals in his two games played against Syracuse and Stanford. He was 8 of 8 in point after attempts.
