Shaw shines at corner

USC defensive back Josh Shaw continues to prove his versatility on the field, moving from safety to corner --- to safety and then corner again in his short tenured Trojan career. Shaw spoke with FOX Sports SCPlaybook about moving back and forth as well as his efforts in the 19-3 win over Utah...

In need of finding a midseason solution to the apparent coverage problems at cornerback shown at Notre Dame, USC defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast and interim head coach Ed Orgeron decided to move safety Josh Shaw to cornerback against Utah.

Shaw played the position earlier this season when Anthony Brown was unavailable due to injury; he also played the spot last year when former head coach Lane Kiffin needed a solution to coverage issues.

The redshirt junior admitted in the week leading up to the game against the Utes that it's been hard for him to find a rhythm on the field as he continues to be shuttled from corner to safety to corner and back again.

Though that may be the, there were no signs of it in the Trojans 19-3 win on Saturday. Shaw made six tackles and intercepted a Travis Wilson pass, returning it 16 yards.

After the game Shaw told FOX Sports SCPlaybook he'll play cornerback again this week when the Trojans hit the road to take on Oregon State in Corvallis (Ore.) on Friday night.
