USC receivers coach reacts to Sarkisian hire

USC receivers coach Tee Martin reacts to the news of Steve Sarkisian hire...

Asked for his reaction to the news of USC hiring Steve Sarkisian as its next head coach, current Trojan receivers coach Tee Martin told Scout on the telephone, "I don't know. This is all kind of new."

Martin says he's confident Sarkisian will go about hiring his new staff the "right way".

He has not been contacted by Sarkisian.

As for previous reports that interim head coach Ed Orgeron and Martin were promised positions in the football program with a new hire imminent, Martin said he "had not heard" of that scenario.

Sarkisian was Martin's quarterback coach for a brief period when he played for the Oakland Raiders in 2003. Martin tells Scout they've kept in contact since, though did not expand on the relationship.

"I really enjoy being at USC," Martin said.

Currently on the road recruiting in Southern California, Martin says he will return to the USC campus for the 2:30 pm team meeting.
