Dorton still set on the Trojans

Bellflower (Calif.) St. John Bosco defensive lineman and USC commit Malik Dorton is set to take his official visit to campus on Friday.

Dorton told Scout he is confident with where he currently stands with USC's new coaching staff, while admitting there was a gray period.

He explained to Scout that Steve Sarkisian's staff did reach out to him after arriving at USC, however conversations between him and the staff turned brief and then disappeared altogether.

Dorton met with running backs and special teams coach Johnny Nansen last week. Nansen cleared up any uncertainties about Dorton's future with the Trojans going forward.

"My offer is still on the table," Dorton explained. "My spot with USC is secure."

Dorton says he remains excited about Sarkisian being hired at USC, "If they were hiring anybody, I'd want it to be him," he explained. "Sark recruited me for a little bit at UW before I committed to USC."

Dorton has yet to meet new defensive line coach Chris Williams.

He says despite rumors that visits to other programs have been canceled, he still has official visit plans on the table for Arizona State and Washington.
