Classes have begun for Pelon

Mesa (Ariz.) Junior College transfer Claude Pelon has arrived in Los Angeles (Calif.) and is enrolled at USC...

Mesa (Ariz.) Junior College transfer Claude Pelon enrolled in his first day of classes at USC on Monday, a USC spokesperson confirmed with SCPlaybook.

The Trojans spring semester began Jan 13.

In a meeting with the media Jan. 14, USC coach Steve Sarkisian said he was hopeful Pelon would be able to enroll at Troy by the end of the week, but added he was "more than hopeful" the four-star defensive tackle would be available for spring practices.

Pelon's enrollment was delayed as he waited on scores from one of his final JUCO classes.

"Claude is a big, physical defensive end," Sarkisian said in a statement released by the school. "He's a guy who we think can step right in and contribute immediately."

The Trojans lost defensive tackle George Uko a year early with him announcing for the NFL draft after the season.

The defensive line also lost starting outside linebackers Devon Kennard and Morgan Breslin to graduation.
