The 2015 cornerback wasn't participating but wanted to check out the action. His first 7on7 of the season will be in Las Vegas (Nev.) next week with Keyshawn Johnson's 7on7 squad.
Norman, a four-star recruit, currently claims 13 offers including: Akron, Arizona State, Bowling Green, California, Florida State, Marshall, Oklahoma, San Jose State, UCLA, USC, Utah, Washington, and Washington State.
"I'm trying to get the whole nation, trying to get my name across the nation now," Norman said. "They're taking notice, but I feel like now I need to seal the deal and I can come in a change their program."
He says half of the bakers dozen are already standing out because of how often he is in communication with them, "UCLA, USC, Oklahoma, Florida State, Arizona State and Washington," Norman explained to Scout.
"Right now for me it is about who is taking the time out to speak with me on a consistent basis, stuff like that," he said. "That's mainly what it is. Whoever I talk to the most, whoever is being consistent when they talk to me."
Norman, 5-foot-10 165-pounds, gave Scout the rundown on the programs who have separated themselves, explaining that UCLA and Oklahoma have even further stood out as two programs who are in contact with him almost daily.
UCLA: "The whole coaching staff, I hear from Coach Mora the most, but I talk to the whole coaching staff."
USC: "I have been talking to [defensive backs] Coach [Keith] Heyward every now and then, and that's pretty much how it goes. I haven't heard from them ever since signing day. I mean I talk to Coach Heyward a lot every now and then.
Washington: "[Defensive backs] Coach [Jimmy] Lake, I hear from Coach Lakes all the time. I talk to the offensive coordinator [Jonathan Smith] too and the defensive coordinator [Pete Kwaitkowski[, so UDub, I've been talking to them a lot."
Arizona State "I talk to ASU a lot. I talk to their whole staff, the defensive coordinator, the receivers coach, I talk to everybody out there, too. So that's pretty much how that is going for me right now."
Norman, who wants to make a National Signing Day decision, says geography most likely won't play a role in his decision. Now in Southern California with his intermediate family, Norman explained that he is from Louisiana, where his extended family remains.
"I don't really have a problem [moving out of region] because half of my family is in Louisiana," said Norman. "So I don't really have a problem about traveling."
On Norman and the Serra to USC connection:
Norman transferred to Serra High School in the offseason from Culver City (Calif.).
It's no secret, Serra has sent plenty of top talent to USC over the last few years, including receivers Robert Woods, Marqise Lee, and George Farmer. Most recently, 2014 recruits Adoree Jackson, Jalen Greene and Olajuwon Tucker have signed with the Trojans.
How does that affect Norman?
"I mean, it kind of plays a role in it because they talk to me about going to USC, just stuff like that, so honestly, just being at Serra, it's a whole different environment because we talk to coaches on a daily basis," he explained.
Norman says he has not spoken or met with any Serra alumni who are in the USC program, but is close with Jackson.
"I haven't talked to nobody like that, but I run track with Adoree [Jackson], he explained. "So we talk about that a lot. We just been talking about ‘SC and how he feels about it and so it kind of plays a role in it, all these guys going to ‘SC from Serra."
