Latest recruiting update:
Ventura (Calif.) St. Bonaventure receiver Lavan Alston currently holds seven scholarship offers.
Alston, 6-feet 175-pounds, told SCOUT there are a few more programs he would like to add offers from.
A 3.4 grade point student, Alston says he is hoping to raise that mark by the end of the semester, with Stanford in his sights. However he has yet to make contact with the Cardinal.
Alston says Oregon, UCLA, and USC are in weekly contact with him.
"USC receivers coach Tee Martin, he says keep working hard and he likes what he sees from me and to keep balling down and doing my thing," Alston explained.
"UCLA Coach Angus McClure says the same thing. Just work hard and they are looking at me.
"I've talked to a lot of coaches at Oregon, the receivers coach and head coach mostly. They like my speed and think I can do really good things at Oregon."
No matter what the school, Alston himself believes he can do well in the Pac-12 Conference. A native of Fort Lauderdale (Fla.), he moved with his family to Southern California entering his freshman year of high school. Alston says he's open to going anywhere for college football, but thinks he'd prefer to stay in the Pac-12.
"It's good when you are one side of the map," he explained, " and played high school football there, so people know you from this side, so it's a little bit easier, but anywhere is possible."
Of the seven programs Alston has offers from, he says he speaks most with Washington State, California, Oregon State, and Arizona State.
"They all say they really like me, they like my speed and what I bring to the football field," said Alston. "They also like my grades."
The plan for Alston is to begin taking a few unofficial visits. One will be to the state of Arizona to check out ASU and Arizona. He'll also make a trip to Oregon to look at Oregon State and Oregon.
This summer, Alston says he'd like to camp at both UCLA and USC.
"It would be cool to continue to play with them because me and Ricky will have awesome chemistry at USC, so it will be a cool place to go to," Alston said. "We are really close. Me and Bryce as well."
