"I just felt welcome and at home," Mason explained to Scout. "They showed lots of love and I was always close with the coaches."
Mason, a Scout four-star cornerback, is no stranger to Troy, he tells Scout he's been to multiple USC football games and is close with junior cornerback Kevon Seymour. Mason grew up next to Seymour, both attending Muir.
"He's like a brother to me," Mason said.
It's yet to be determined what side of the ball he'll play at USC. Both defensive backs coach Keith Heyward and receivers coach Tee Martin are in on his recruitment.
Though USC is a childhood dream school for Mason, he admits his recruitment is not over.
"I'm keeping my options open," Mason said. "I'm only a junior so I don't know if I'll change my mind or not."
Mason says the Gators are a dream school since he grew up watching Tim Tebow. The Ducks are intriguing because of their speed.
