Toailoa, USC spring game was 'a lot of fun'

Several local SoCal players attended recent spring games at USC and UCLA over the last week including talented Rialto (Calif.) Carter 2016 linebacker Lokeni Toailoa.

The 2016 West Coast class is shaping up to be strong at the linebacker position and Lokeni Toailoa is definitely one of the best. He's a pure run stuffer, very physical and a huge hitter. He has been playing a lot of 7 on 7 this spring to improve his cover skills and ability to play in space and had made some very nice strides.

On the recruiting front, Toailoa has seven offers on the table, all from the Pac 12 and attended recent Spring Games at USC and UCLA.

"The USC game was high intensity, the players and coaches were really in to it," Toailoa said. "The players did the gauntlet, a hitting drill before the game and that got everyone hyped. That was my first time meeting Coach Sark and he's a great guy. I really enjoyed meeting the other recruits and it was good to hang out and talk to some of those guys.

"I feel really good about USC."

"The game itself was a lot of fun as well, it was a nice learning environment. I was focusing on the linebackers and I like how they play. Coach Sirmon has been recruiting me since I was a freshman so I'm real cool with him. He likes me as an inside ‘backer and said he likes how I finish off a play so overall, I feel really good about USC.

This past weekend, Toailoa was at the UCLA spring game.

"UCLA was awesome too," Toailoa said. "Coach Ulbrich was so hyped up, he actually chest bumped me before the game and almost knocked the wind out of me. He was going around hitting everyone and got me good too but I liked it. The coaches were treating it like a real game and the team is very talented and looked great.

"Coach Ulbrich has been recruiting me since I was a freshman too and I'm very comfortable there as well. The teams looked similar to me in that they both play fast and have great athletes. The coaches are similar- real high energy guys all the way. I can't really say which one was better, I loved them both."

Toailoa said Texas and Texas A&M should be by to see him this week and Auburn is showing new interest as well.
