Vaughns signature hat may tell story

La Puente (Calif.) Bishop Amat two-way player Tyler Vaughns is in the running for top receiver out west in the 2016 class. He has had a great spring and one of the local schools is doing very well with him.

Tyler Vaughns has been one of the best players we've seen on the spring 7 on 7 circuit. He looks like he has grown since the end of the season is pushing 6-2 and probably weighs around 175 pounds. No one has caught more jump balls or end zone fades than him and his timing and leaping ability separate him from just about every other pass catcher out West.

"I'm never satisfied or happy with my performance, you can always get better," Vaughns said. "I'm working hard on everything, from running better routes, getting stronger and working on my speed. I want to get more aggressive as well and work on becoming a better corner as well as a better receiver."

"USC is my top school, I've always liked them."

On the recruiting front, Vaughns landed his first offer from USC and has also been offered by Colorado State.

"USC is my top school, I've always liked them," Vaughns said. "I grew up watching Reggie Bush and I really liked watching guys like Robert Woods and Marqise Lee play the receiver position. "When USC offered, I actually thought about committing right there but it's too soon and I want to wait things out.

"At the end of my junior season, I'll re-evaluate where things are at and decide if I should make a decision or go through the process more. Academics are big for me and I want to find a place where I'm comfortable with the staff and players on the team. I'll do some summer camps but other than USC, I'm not sure who else I'll visit right now."
