One of the top 50 high school prospects in the country in the 2015 recruiting class, Salt Lake City Brighton linebacker Osa Masina announce his trimmed list on Twitter Wednesday night, announcing a top eight (in no order) of Arizona State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Stanford, UCLA, USC, Utah and Wisconsin.
The 6-4, 205-pound prospect visited Arizona State, Stanford, UCLA and USC over his recent spring break and visited Michigan, Notre Dame and Wisconsin last summer. Masina has also made many visited to Utah, where his older brothers, Uaea and Lo'i, are currently on the Utah roster.
A four-star prospect who is ranked the No.7 outside linebacker in the country and the No.50 overall prospect by Scout.com, Masina cut schools like BYU, California, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington from his list.
According to National Recruiting Analyst Greg Biggins, "Masina is a player that is just oozing with upside. He's a big athlete who has been a dominant running back at the H.S level but projects best as an outside ‘backer. At 6-4, 210 pounds, he has a great frame, runs very well and could easily bulk up in to a full time defensive end down the line. He has very good straight line speed but also shows excellent lateral mobility and plays well in space. Projects great as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme."
Masina ran for 1,683 yards and 25 touchdowns and tallied 57 tackles, including 8.5 for a loss, as a junior, during his team's run to the state championship game last season.
