Hemsley will announce Tuesday

Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward Prep offensive lineman Roy Hemsley will make his college choice on Tuesday and is down to the two local schools here.

Roy Hemsley is one of the most athletic tackles out West with unlimited upside. He was known more as a basketball player until about a year ago but now projects best on the football field.

The lineman has over double digit offers but the two local schools, USC and UCLA, have always seemed like the two to beat and Hemsley indicated that's who his finalists are as well.

"I'm down to USC and UCLA," Hemsley said. "I'll do it right before my spring practice tomorrow at 2:45 on the football field. I just want to get it out of the way and focus on my season next year and finishing up strong in the classroom.

"I figure if you know what you want to do, might as well go ahead and get it over with. I still plan to take my official visits though. I've always wanted to do that for the experience and I know that's part of the fun of the recruiting process. I have no idea where I'll visit right now, I'm not really focused on that, just excited to make my decision here."

USC was the first offer for Hemsley and the tackle was at the Trojans spring game a few weeks ago.

"I'm really comfortable at USC and I like the school a lot," Hemsley said. "I like the coaching staff and the energy they bring. I've always liked the football program, the academics and the overall direction the program is going in.

"I had basketball so I wasn't able to make the UCLA spring game but I have a good feel for them as well. I have taken multiple visits to the campus there and just like with SC, I really like their coaches and campus a lot too. Both schools are close to home and have a solid family environment so that's why they're my final two schools and I can't go wrong with either."

The buzz on Hemsley's announcement from those close to him has USC the team to beat right now. If so, it's a big head to head win for the Trojans for a player who could end up the top tackle prospect in the state by the end of the summer.
