USC visits Sills in Maryland

Elkton (Md.) Eastern Christian 2015 quarterback David Sills is still committed to USC, but continues to explore his options. Scout caught up with Sills to talk about what schools are trying to lure him away from the Trojans.

USC quarterback commit David Sills talks with Scout's Rachel Klein in Elkton, MD on Thursday...

USC quarterbacks coach Clay Helton was in Elkton (Md.) on Thursday at Eastern Christian Academy's college day to see Trojan quarterback commit David Sills.

Sills, a 2015 recruit who committed to USC in just the eighth grade, tells Scout he remains committed to the Trojans though much has changed since he gave his verbal pledge over three years ago.

For starters, Sills committed to former coach Lane Kiffin. Now, the Trojans are led by Steve Sarkisian. When Sills committed to the Trojans, he was the only quarterback in USC's 2015 recruiting class; now USC also has a commitment from Scout's top-rated quarterback in 2015, Ricky Town.

"I'm committed to [USC], but the old coaching staff was the staff who recruited me," Sills explained. "So i'm going to see what's best for me.

"I'm going to see other places, I'm going to see what else is out there for me."

USC's new staff did not initially recruit Sills when taking over the Trojan program. Scout has since learned that Sarkisian indeed wants to keep Sills committed, though it may be an uphill battle to make up lost ground in his recruitment.

"They're still recruiting me," Sills said. "But it's a new staff who I am not as comfortable with now, so we'll see going forward."

Sills, a Scout three-star recruit, also holds offers from Mississippi State, Michigan, Maryland, West Virginia, Clemson, Virginia Tech, and Boston College.
