2015 Los Angeles (Calif.) Windward offensive tackle Roy Hemsley announced his verbal commitment to USC on March 6 via a press release from his school.

A week later, Hemsley is now talking about his decision to become a Trojan.

"It's just the place to be right now," Hemsley told Scout. "They have a great 2014 recruiting class. I know their 2015 recruiting class is on the rise.

"I know it's a great place academically, so that's why I chose the Trojans."

It came down to USC and UCLA for the Scout four-star recruit.

Trojan offensive line coach Tim Drevno and receivers coach Tee Martin recruited Hemsley.

"They reminded me of the long, illustrious careers that so many pros have had there," explained Hemsley. "That was a selling point.

"They told me I have a lot of potential and they could see me as a pro."

Hemsley says his verbal commitment to USC is solid, though he does plan to take all five of his official visits this fall, including USC.

He also wants to take official trips to Arizona State, and if offered, Oregon, LSU, and Alabama.

Hemsley is the No. 211 rated player in the Scout 300.
