One of the players the Trojans will be keeping an eye on this fall is Dorsey cornerback Marques Binns, a 6-0, 170 team captain who was named All City and is one of several talented recruits on this Don team.
Binns had 63 tackles last season without an interception as teams rarely threw his way and he held Manual Arts star James Finley to a single five yard out route in a game last year. Binns' father says Marques has been playing corner for 9 years, including Pop Warner, and has never been beat for a touchdown.
"Marques has a reputation in the City as a guy you just don't throw on," said Mark Binns. "He runs a 10.53 100 and he is a team captain who is also being recruited by schools like Michigan State, Tennessee, Arizona, Colorado, Washington, Oregon offered as a WR, and USC. He's infatuated with the Trojans, though, it's a lifetime thing for him. He grew up watching Marinovich and had all the jerseys and everything. He's just a good kid, has a 3.0 GPA and will be taking the tests in September. We want to make sure we take care of everything we need to take care of for qualifying."
In addition to Binns, the Trojans will also look at Dorsey players Tremaine Towns (LB) and Derron Ware (DB, currently a verbal to Michigan State).
