Video, USC quarterback Cody Kessler discusses the summer's player-run practices...
USC players were available to speak with the media for the first time this summer on Thursday, following their tenth player-run practice.
The offseason workouts have been much different than those of summers past. Previously, the player-run sessions weren't always taken as seriously as coach-run practices.
Although there have been lax moments throughout the first month of sessions, the overall structure and work ethic of the Trojans appears much different.
"Some of the guys out here, we were talking in the locker room, and we think by far, these are the best throwing sessions we've had," said quarterback Cody Kessler on Thursday. "Guys are showing up and guys are being accountable."
USC coach Steve Sarkisian spent one of his allotted 15 spring practices instructing players how to run the summer practices.
Kessler's leadership role in conducting the workouts has been undeniable as he helps direct an offense littered with freshmen at receiver and on the offensive line.
"The freshmen fit in perfect," Kessler said, "it's awesome to see... The freshmen guys who weren't here this spring already are knowing the offense, getting in the playbook, and are watching film."
The Trojans are schedule to complete six more player-run practices before their tentative start date of fall camp, Aug. 4.
