outside linebacker Jabari Ruffin
will miss the entire 2014 season, USC confirmed. The redshirt sophomore tore his ACL during morning practice on Sunday.
The injury was suffered when Ruffin was returning an intercepted pass and was eventually tackled.
Ruffin, 6-foot-3 240-pounds, left Howard Jones Field after practice on a cart; team trainers initially did not believe the injury to be serious.
Ruffin was listed as the starter on the Trojans preseason depth chart at outside linebacker ahead of sophomore Quinton Powell and freshman Uchenna Nwosu.
Ruffin is the second player out for the season at USC due to an ACL injury. Redshirt freshman Kenny Bigelow tore his ACL during a July player-run practice.
