Five-star reconsiders USC

This season, Orange Lutheran defensive end/outside linebacker Keisean Lucier-South has 29 tackles, six tackles for losses and two sacks. Lucier-South had 10 sacks last year in 10 games.

Orange (Calif.) Lutheran five-star outside linebacker Keisean Lucier-South eliminated USC as a college option over the summer, but that did not stop the Trojans coaching staff from recruiting him.

That relentless, undaunted attitude has USC officially back in the mix for Lucier-South.

“They kept recruiting me even when I took them off the list and I respect that a lot,” said Lucier-South. “I also love what they’re doing over there (at USC).”

Steve Sarkisian and Co. are attempting to bring back the swagger and carefree attitude the Trojans had in their national title days under Pete Carroll.

Lucier-South, the nation’s No. 5 outside linebacker and the No. 30 player overall nationally, hosted Sarkisian at Orange Lutheran a week ago.

“The team is different and it looks like they’re having a lot of fun,” said Lucier-South. “It was also a huge honor to have Coach Sark come see me play. I didn’t even know he was coming.”

Lucier-South will now consider UCLA, Oregon, Michigan, Oklahoma, Florida and USC in no particular order.

Lucier-South just recently visited Oklahoma, to which he said, “I had a great trip, I loved everything about it.”

Lucier-South also has visits set up to Michigan (Oct. 11) and Oregon for (Nov. 1). Lucier-South will reserve his final two trips for out of state schools.

However, now with USC and UCLA under consideration, he is being careful about which school gets an unofficial visit when both the Trojans and Bruins are playing at home on the same weekend.

A weekend like this weekend, where USC hosts Arizona State and UCLA hosts Utah.

“I don’t know where I’m going yet, honestly,” said Lucier-South.
