One of the top cornerbacks the Trojan coaches will be evaluating this fall is Inglewood HS star Darius Connor. Connor is 6-1, 180 and was named 1st team all state junior last year as well as the CIF Div 9 defensive player of the year after his team advanced to the CIF finals before losing to Paso Robles.
Former Trojan DB Martin French is an assistant coach at the school and he says Darius has awesome potential at the college level, "Darius has the skills of a corner but the size to play safety. He is probably the best wide receiver on our team and has very soft hands but we need him on defense. He hits like Mark Carrier but can cover like Darrell Hopper. He didn't play varsity as a sophomore at Westchester so last year when he came to Inglewood it was the first chance he had to show what he can do. He knows how to play the game, his dad is a coach in the Pop Warner system, and Darius has all the potential in the world. Right now he's looking at USC, UCLA, Oregon and UNLV and he was at the Trojan game last Saturday. We got another top guy as well in Keith Jackson, he is a huge OL/DL who is over 310 right now and he is going to be a real good player and he has a younger brother who might be even better. Inglewood is gonna have a good team this year."
Connor is one of the main corner recruits on the Trojan wish list along with Richard Marshall from Locke and Greg Threat from Lincoln (FL).
