Chad Pierson update

Fullback expected back for Arizona State

USC fullback Chad Pierson had a micro discetomy last Thursday following persistent leg pains which lingered from the back injury he suffered while lifting weights prior to spring practice.

Trojan team doctor Robert Watkins had originally hoped to avoid surgery but the pain continued during workouts throughout fall camp and the decision was made to immediately schedule the procedure which was a complete success.   Among the pro athletes who have had similar surgeries include Steve McNair, Troy Aikman and Wayne Gretzky and at this point a full recovery is expected for Chad who will start back isolation exercises next week with a hopeful return by the Arizona State game.
