The No. 1 cornerback in the Midwest is planning to make an escape from the frigid winter to take a trip to sunny Southern California later this month.
Detroit (Mich.) King four-star cornerback LaVert Hill said he plans to take an official visit to USC on Jan. 15.
"I've been talking to Coach Sirmon a lot. I already scheduled a visit to USC this next week, Jan. 15,” Hill said. “I talk to him a lot. He just tells me that they want me and stuff like that, so that's pretty good.”
“I got pretty high interest. I'm just looking over the tradition, all the stuff they've been through.”
Hill said he likes the direction the Trojans seem to be headed and he is looking forward to making his first ever trip to California. During his trip, Hill will be paying close attention to the “atmosphere there and the school period.”
“I want to to see just what they have to offer,” Hill said, adding that the Trojans have piqued his interest after “seeing that they play their corners and DBs early.”
The 5-foot-10, 176-pound Hill is the No. 7 cornerback in the country and No. 101 in the 2016 Scout 300. Hill isn’t the biggest defensive back, but he has shown is capable of jumping routes and getting in between the quarterback and the receiver to either bat the ball away or swipe it for an interception.
Hill has offers from all over the country, including a recent one from national championship contender Clemson, but he listed Michigan, Michigan State, USC, UCLA, Penn State, Ohio State and Tennessee as schools that he is still considering. With multiple visits to come in January, Hill plans to make his collegiate plans known on National Signing Day.
