USC offers Quinn Nordin a scholarship

USC does not offer scholarships to kickers very often, but Trojans new special teams coach John Baxter wasted no time in doing just that Tuesday.

Rockford (Mich.) kicker Quinn Nordin is one of the few players at his position to garner a four-star ranking.

But Nordin is also rated as the No. 1 kicker in the nation. This week, USC special teams coach John Baxter wasted no time in continuing his recruitment and relationship with Nordin.

Hired by USC from Michigan just two weeks ago, Baxter is making a hard push to get Nordin out to Los Angeles with him.

“I have a great relationship with Coach Baxter,” said Nordin. “I love him to death. He’s like a second dad to me. He has always had my back and has been recruiting me since my junior year.

“He really cares about me and my family. Really, he’s a coach that looks out for me and my best interests. He went to USC from Michigan, so Tuesday Clay Helton called me to offer me a scholarship to go there.”

Nordin will officially visit USC Jan. 29. Nordic was previously scheduled to officially visit Baylor that weekend.

“Yes, I’ll see USC instead of Baylor now,” said Nordin.

This weekend, Nordin will visit Penn State, where he is still currently committed.

He will announce his final decision on a college choice on National Signing Day.
