Max Browne taking QB competition day by day

Redshirt junior QB Max Browne talks about being the veteran during USC's quarterback competition and treating every day like a game even though he's trying to take things day by day.

Max Browne understands what is at stake over the next eight days before USC head coach Clay Helton makes a final decision on who will be the starting quarterback to lead the Trojans into the season. Along with playing time this season, Browne's USC legacy is on the line and possibly even his future with the program were Sam Darnold to win the job.

"Shoot, every day is a game for me," Browne said. "Living on edge."

Browne admitted it is hard to know exactly where he stands with both quarterbacks getting equal snaps, but he is trying to keep things as simple as he can.

"I think that's just the nature of a competition battle. You try not to really mentally get worked up in it and, as cliche as it is, approach each rep as one single rep and just control what you can control."

Watch Max Browne, above, talk about the quarterback competition, how he feels comfortable with the offensive line and pass protections and what he thinks of Clay Helton saying he needs to take more shots.
