The matchup of Los Angeles (Calif.) Cathedral against Lynwood (Calif.) didn't present a head-to-head battle of top teams, but there was a quality head-to-head matchup with Cathedral three-star receiver Jamire Calvin trying to get open against three-star USC commit Wylan Free at cornerback.
Unfortunately, the matchup was short lived. Free played through a right knee injury from the previous week, but Calvin injured his shoulder on the first drive of the game and played only a handful of snaps the rest of the game. In his brief stint, Calvin collected one catch on a short crossing route for five yards. Free did a nice job trailing across the formation on the play before tackling the receiver.
It was the only catch the 6-foot-1.5, 165-pound cornerback would allow all night.
The No. 14 cornerback in California and No. 67 overall defensive back normally is a big contributor to the Knights' offensive attack as well, but played only a few snaps on offense since he was hobbled by the knee injury.
