The nation's No. 2 defensive tackle and top in the West region, South Jordan (Utah) Bingham's Jay Tufele, has trimmed down his list, announcing he is focusing his attention on seven schools.
"I would like to thank every college coach, that has given me an opportunity to attend their University. it has truly been a blessing, but after long talks with my family I have decided to cut my list to seven. these seven schools are the school that I know that will most benefit me not only as an athlete but a student athlete and also life after football," he wrote in a message on Twitter Sunday afternoon.
USC is one of four Pac-12 schools that Tufele is still considering. The No. 36 overall player in the 2017 class and the top player in the state of Utah is also looking at two programs from his home state with the Utes and rival BYU both making the cut. Tufele's other two finalists are Big 10 national powers, Ohio State and Michigan.
The 6-foot-3, 297-pound four-star has not played yet this season after an MRI on his foot revealed ligament damage. The injury apparently happened during his trip to The Opening.
