Santa Margarita (Calif.) Catholic had a tough matchup last Friday. The Eagles were facing the top team in California and one of the top teams in the nation...and they had to do it on the road during Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei's homecoming.
The Monarchs beat up on Santa Margarita, holding the Eagles to 55 total yards in the first half while taking a 56-0 lead at halftime en route to a 62-14. Santa Margarita's offense couldn't get much going despite having USC commit Brett Neilon in the middle of the line.
"This is my first year at center," Neilon said. "Playing a good, true zero[-technique] nose is always going to be a task. It was fun. He's a big guy. Good kid. I've faced him in some summer camps. That's the talent level I'll be facing in the Pac-12, so it was fun."
Neilon held his own, keeping Faoliu out of the backfield for the most part. He also showcased his mobility later in the game when he was tasked with getting to the second level for a block on the outside against a linebacker.
