Gardena (Calif.) Serra class of 2018 three-star wide receiver John Jackson is very familiar with USC Trojans football. His father, John Jackson Sr., was a two-sport star for USC in the late 1980's, playing both football and baseball for the Trojans. John Jr. is now blazing his own trail, but his connection to USC will always be there.
“My grandfather coached there my dad played there… it’s just the tradition at USC," Jackson told our Gerard Martinez last week. "I remember way back when I was sitting on Pete Carroll’s lap. USC will always have a special spot in my heart. It’s the school I’ve grown up around.
“I’ve been to a lot of games, and Coach Tee Martin has been down at Serra to see us. I talked to him last month and he said USC is still looking at me. From that standpoint, things are pretty positive with USC right now.”
As of now Jackson has three scholarship offers, his first was from Tennessee followed by BYU and Oregon. He is talking with the USC coaching staff regularly and is he is hearing from UCLA as well.
Jackson was a quarterback at Mater Dei and was asked to switch to receiver, the position his father played at USC. Jackson possesses a flair on the field often associated with the wide receiver position.
