Vegas four-star DE Elijah Wade narrows list

Four-star edge rusher Elijah Wade unveiled his top seven schools with USC one of the teams still in contention for his services.

Elijah Wade is one of the top prospects in the state of Nevada and one of the top edge rushers in the West, but when he narrowed his list of potential schools to seven on Friday, he showed that distance will not be a factor when it comes to where he chooses to play his college football.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pound four-star Las Vegas (Nev.) Arbor View defensive end produced a top seven that featured no schools from Nevada and just four in the West.

The message was simple: "I will be focusing on these 7 schools #Blessed," Wade wrote on Twitter.

The four West teams were all from the Pac-12 with his two others coming from the Southeastern Conference and one from the Big 10. In the West, Wade is still looking at both Los Angeles schools -- USC and UCLA -- as well as California and Oregon. Wade camped at USC last summer where he earned his scholarship offer from the Trojans. He also visited both Los Angeles schools this spring.

"It was great to be back there to see coach KU [Kenechi Udeze] and [Gavin] Morris at USC," Wade told Scout in May. "It was great to be able to walk the campus and see all that stuff again [after camping there last year]. Coach KU and I talk about a lot of stuff, more stuff outside of football than anything else. USC is up there for me.

"L.A. being the No. 2 media market, you know it's going to be one of the greatest cities to be playing in."

While USC was on Wade first and got him to camp last summer, his good friend and former Arbor View defensive linemate Greg Rogers will be a freshman for the Bruins this year.

Wade was planning to check out California during a trip to the Bay Area for The Opening Oakland Regional, but he never made it to the event. He has been a bit of an enigma this spring, not showing up for many of the showcase events.

The No. 111 overall prospect in the Scout 300 also has AlabamaVanderbilt and Nebraska in his top seven, giving him schools from different areas of the country with different environments from the cities of Los Angeles and Nashville to college towns in Tuscaloosa, Lincoln and Eugene to the unique elevated-educated-hippy vibe of Berkeley.
