Jacksonville Mandarin standout Chris Anderson is one of the top defensive linemen in the state of Florida this year. At 6'3 and 274 pounds, he has impressive quickness and speed, running a 4.75 40 yard dash. Known as a great pass rusher, Anderson already has 13 sacks in six games this year from his defensive tackle spot for 4-2 Mandarin. This comes after an accomplished junior year in which he had 22 sacks, 101 tackles, and 3 interceptions and was named to the all-district, all-conference, and all-state teams. Also a top wrestler, Anderson is athletic enough that he periodically lines up at fullback. In fact, he had 6 touchdowns from that spot last year.
Anderson listed "Miami, South Carolina, Florida, Florida State, USC, Michigan State, and Clemson" as the schools he is looking at right now and named no favorites out of that group. All have offered and he has already scheduled official visits to the Trojans and Hurricanes, "I've got USC on November 30th and I've got Miami on December 8th." Because of his great athleticism, everyone is looking at him as both a defensive tackle and a defensive end. Anderson also stated that "early playing time" is a priority for him in choosing a school.
How did Anderson become interested in the Trojans? He answered that as he explained that the USC staff showed early attention and extended an offer, "they came down to the school and they talked to me. They told me about the school and everything."
Anderson stated that he plans to go through the whole recruiting process and take his trips, so don't look for a decision any time soon.
