Tallahassee Godby's Edmond Miles is one of the best linebackers in the state of Florida this year and his stock is still rising. The 6'1, 195 pound Florida star has gotten off to a fast start for the 5-3 Cougars with 100 tackles, 3 sacks, 1 pass break-up, and 2 caused fumbles. In Godby's win over Clay County last week, Miles shined with 13 solo tackles and 7 assisted tackles. Using his 4.51 speed and strong football instincts, he's able to track down just about anybody on the field. A standout wrestler and high school weight lifter, he's also known for his brute strength, and more importantly, he's simply a great football player. He rarely leaves the field as he starts at linebacker, fullback, and he's also a force on special teams.
In looking at the Universities recruiting him, Miles noted that his priorities include "depth chart, how good their defense is, and tradition." "Southern Cal, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Minnesota" lead for Miles' services and the Trojans look to be in good shape as he noted that they hold a solid lead. The speedy linebacker hears regularly from coach Nick Holt and he spoke specifically about what he likes about USC, "They've got good tradition and I watched their defense the last two weeks. They've got a good defense." Miles has scheduled official visits to USC for December 7th and Arkansas for January 19th. His Godby teammate, offensive lineman Brian Johnson, will also be visiting USC the same weekend. At the moment, Miles plans on going through the whole recruiting process and taking his visits, but that could change as he explained "I might commit early….if I feel it."
Miles and Godby will face Leon High School this weekend.
