AP votes USC #1

The Trojans have officially been named as the #1 team in the country as the AP announced tonight that USC is the top team for their 2003 poll. It's the 9th national championship for the Trojans.

Terry Taylor from AP just officially told Pete Carroll that the Trojans have been named the champions of the AP poll for the 2003 season.

Taylor - "It's official. On behalf of the Associated Press and the 65 fine human beings, the sportswriters and broadcasters that make up the AP Top 25 college football poll board, we congratulate you and your Southern California Trojans and your staff on being selected AP's national champions for the 2003 season. Congratulations and we hope as many students and fans as possible will be on hand tomorrow morning to cheer you on when we present you with the championship trophy."

Carroll - "Thank you very much Terry. We're very proud to represent the national champions of the AP poll. We're glad it concluded in the fashion that we hoped it would. We're proud of that, we've had a terrific football season and we're real excited about that."
