Jacksonville Ed White's Chris Turner (6'3, 265 lbs) is one of the quickest defensive linemen in the country this year. Using his strength and incredible 4.5 speed, he's a quarterback's worst nightmare. This was evident in his team's 28-7 victory over Deland last week as Turner was in the opposition's backfield all night compiling 5 sacks. Switching between defensive end and defensive tackle, the Florida stand-out noted that his strong-points are "bull rushing and pass rushing." On the year, Turner has 29 tackles and 12 sacks for 4-5 Ed White.
Every big name college in the nation is after Turner and he listed his favorites as "Southern Cal, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, and Michigan." All have offered and he stated that he has no leader out of that group. He went on to say that "atmosphere and playing time" are the main factors that he is looking at in choosing a school and that distance from home is not an issue. The speedy lineman also explained that he has set up his first official visit, "I'm coming to Southern Cal on December 7th." How did this blue-chipper from across the country become interested in the Trojans? Turner answered that as he explained "Coach Orgeron, how energetic he was. I talk to him over the phone and I met him before." The highly touted prospect also stated that the Trojan coaching staff is recruiting him as a defensive tackle for Pete Carroll's defense.
Jacksonville Ed White and Chris Turner take on Raines High School this week.
