Doug Middleton update

I had a chance to talk to one of the best prep football players in Orange County tonight, Doug Middleton of Servite HS in Anaheim. Middleton is a nasty hitter from his SS spot and he has experienced an outstanding season, racking up 119 total tackles in only 8 games. His 18 tackle performance against perennial O.C. powerhouse Mater Dei proves that he's a big time player who shows up for big games. Like most great athletes, Doug plays both ways. As a WR, he's caught 3 TD's for Servite this season. Here's what Doug had to say:

M: What schools do you currently like?

D: SC, Cal, AZ, Wis, CSU and some of the ivy leagues.

M: How many offers do you have?

D: Just one from Montana.

M: Is SC your favorite school?

D: Oh Yeah, definitely. But I don't know how hard they're recruiting me.

M: If SC offered, would you accept?

D: Oh definitely.

M: So what's your situation been like with SC?

D: Well, I've talked to coach Pola once every week since mid September, and I went to the game last week against OSU and I got to talk to the coaches.

M: Did they mention an offer?

D: They told me that after this week they were going to look at my tape and get back to me.

M: Do the coaches know that you want to be a Trojan?

D: I haven't told them, and I'm not sure they know.

M: How has your season gone so far?

D: Our team is doing alright. We're 5-4 and I'm doing pretty well. I have 119 total tackles, 3 ints. 2 caused fumbles and 2 sacks.

M: Could you give me your numbers from the Nike combine earlier this year?

D: I ran a 4.6, my vertical jump was 30 inches. I ran a 4.03 in the shuttle and I put up the bench 23 times.

M: Height? Weight?

D: I'm 6-1, 205.

M: Are you friends with Joe Mcguire?

D: Yeah, I still talk to him all the time.
