The NFL draft status of Mike Williams could still be up in the air as the US Supreme Court has requested written arguments from the NFL in response to a lawsuit filed this week by Maurice Clarett seeking an emergency lifting of the legal stay which is currently keeping he and Williams out of the draft.

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg is expected to make a ruling before the weekend which could allow Williams and Clarett back in the draft.

Ginsburg has given the NFL until 9:30am ET Thursday to provide its written argument. After that, Ginsburg can issue a ruling based on the written arguments from each side, or order a hearing in front of her with representatives from both sides, and then issue an expected ruling before the draft, which is Saturday and Sunday, on whether the stay issued by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals should be lifted
