Shrine practices begin

Practices began today for the Shrine All-Star game which will take place on Saturday at 7:00pm at Mt San Antonio College. Future Trojans Josh Pinkard and Eugene Germany took part in practice today with other USC signees scheduled to arrive later in the week.

Josh Pinkard and Eugene Germany were the only two Trojan signees to show up today for the opening day of Shrine All-Star game practices. The coaches for the game were told that Rocky Hinds was taking his physical today and would be at practice tomorrow, hopefully that will happen because there are a lot of people who really want to see Rocky in action during this game. Thomas Herring is taking his last final exam today (Fremont is a year round school) and will be at practice tomorrow. Derrick Jones and Chilo Rachal were no-shows and the coaches didn't know if they would be showing up or not.

Pinkard looked pretty impressive at safety. He moved well and covered a lot of ground once the ball was in the air. Germany was playing OLB and he showed good pursuit when he chased Rudy Carpenter to the sidelines on one play. Eugene definitely stands out at linebacker due to his size and it would still surprise me if he stays at linebacker as a Trojan. He's just so big that you have to imagine he will end up on the d-line once he gets into the Carlisle training program and adds more size.

As a reminder, the Shrine game will be televised by Fox Sports West on Saturday at 7:00pm with Carson Palmer as a halftime guest during the game as he will be inducted into the Shrine Hall of Fame.
