Turner, 6'5, 215 lbs, has a tremendous combination of speed, athleticism, and size, making him one of the nation's most coveted receiver prospects. As a junior the big wide out hauled in 56 passes for 955 yards, and 12 touchdowns for his Goodpasture High School team. This came after a sophomore season that saw him make 53 receptions for 1,033 yards and 14 touchdowns.
"Overall I'm looking at the academics and the football program, and just basically where I feel comfortable," Turner said. "And the coaches too, definitely the coaches." He also stated that distance from home will not play a role in his decision.
With the success that the USC coaching staff has had with big receivers in recent years, it's no surprise that they've made Turner a big priority, "They don't even have to recruit really because the program speaks for itself," Turner said on the Trojans. "And I like the kind of coach Pete Carroll is. And with that offense, they definitely throw it. They sent me a highlight tape. It's crazy. They just move it down the field like it's nothing. That offense is real productive. I talked to Coach McNair, the running backs coach, and some of the other coaches. They were just telling me about the program and that they wanted to throw me in that weight room. About how nice it is down there and how the guys have fun in that offense. They were telling me about Mike Williams and how when he came in as a freshman, he was around my size."
While he hasn't attended any team camps this past summer, Turner has been keeping busy with his own workout regimen, "I've just been training a lot this summer," he explained. "I train with a lot of college people, like Tennessee State University, and also with some guys in Memphis. That's where I just came back from. I'm just going hard because we have camp coming up on August 1st ."
"I haven't scheduled any official visits yet," Turner said. "Out of my top 7, I'm going to have to cut two out. I don't know who yet though. I have to think about that." Turner did add however, "More than likely I'll visit USC."
Turner plans on waiting until he's taken all five official visits before he makes his college decision.
