Trojans to recruit CB Marques Binns

One of the players rising on the coaches wish list in recent weeks is Dorsey CB Marques Binns, who starred on both sides of the ball for the City Champion Dons this season.

Binns (6'0", 170) has long been interested in the Trojans and the coaches evaluated him early in the season but elected to go after other corners at that time. His father took a highlight tape by the coaches office two weeks ago and within two hours they received a call back from the USC coaches saying they loved the tape and had changed their mind and now wanted to recruit Marques to USC.

Marques had 28 catches with 8 TD's and added a KO return for a score in addition to having 3 picks on the year. In the title game last Friday at the Coliseum he had a 33 yard TD catch and a 55 yard KO return for a score while also providing his usual solid coverage in "my first game on my new home field". He went against Taft All American junior WR Steve Smith for only part of the night and the only catch Smith made against him came on a tipped ball. Marques did not allow a TD pass to be completed on him all season and only allowed one in the past two years.

The Trojan coaches love his height as a corner, in addition to his 4.4 speed, and will look to bring him in for a visit on the weekend of January 11th. So far Binns has written offers from Wisconsin, Michigan State, San Jose State and Cal with an offer from USC expected soon and he says, "As soon as USC offers, my decision will be made."
