Game Day

The opening game of the season is finally here. After what seems like an extremely long off-season, one that was filled with joy courtesy of the national championship and also some well documented turmoil, the USC Trojans will take the field tonight against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field.

The opening game of the season is finally here. After what seems like an extremely long off-season, one that was filled with joy courtesy of the national championship and also some well documented turmoil, the USC Trojans will take the field tonight against Virginia Tech at FedEx Field.

It's been great to see Washington DC get taken over by Trojan fans, the game is a short drive away for Hokie fans but when you toured the monuments and Beltway attractions yesterday all you could see were Cardinal and Gold fans milling about with relatively few Virginia Tech fans in sight. The rally last night featured words from USC President Steven Sample, Art Bartner and others as the Trojan family celebrated the pending opening of the college football season as if it were New Year's Eve.

Tonight we finally get to see our beloved team return to action and it should be a festival for the Trojan senses. Virginia Tech is a good team but the Trojans should have too much talent, and some extra motivation thanks to the recent shabby treatment from the NCAA, and you can be sure Pete Carroll will have his team plenty pumped up to do some hitting tonight.

It's time to sit back at home, or at the stadium for those who are here right now, and watch the action. I don't know about you but personally I can't wait for kickoff.
