Derrick Williams, the nation's No. 1 college football prospect, has been a busy man on the phone over the past two days. Williams, from Greenbelt (Md.) Roosevelt High School, has been bombarded since college coaches could start calling at 12:01 am September 1st.
"I think USC, Florida and Florida State called right on top of each other right at 12:01 and Derrick talked with them all," said his father, Dwight Williams. "Penn State and some others called as well. UConn called at 6 am in the morning. He got at least 20 calls last night and it was all head coaches."
According to his father, Derrick has set up an official visit to Florida (9-24) and will likely visit either Southern Cal or Oklahoma during the season. Currently, Florida, Oklahoma, USC, Florida State, Penn State, Ohio State, Virginia and Maryland are on his short list. Williams will graduate in December but is in no rush to make a decision.
"We don't want to rush this and are looking for the perfect fit for Derrick."
