Trojan verbal commit Mark Sanchez led his Mission Viejo teammates in a scrimmage today against the Newport Harbor Sailors. Sanchez had what amounted to an extended workout as the Diablos kept the play calling simple and focused on repitition during the final tune-up before the season opener next week.

Mark had a nice throw on the opening series when he completed a pass along the left sideline to his receiver for a 15 yard gain, he was very smooth as he dropped back and effortlessly fired a strike to the sideline. He showed his strong arm on a couple throws down the middle although one was intercepted after junior TE Konrad Reuland was popped and the ball bounced in the air.

Overall he seemed in control of the offense and ready to prove that he belongs among the elite quarterbacks in the nation. Sanchez and Mission Viejo take on Los Alamitos next Thursday night (September 9th) and the game will be televised at 11:00pm on the Fox Sports Net high school game of the week.
